SWFWMD Hosting a Public Meeting/Proposed Minimum Flow for the Rainbow River

Southwest Florida Water Management District (SWFWMD) will be  hosting a public meeting on February 23, 2017 at 4:30 p.m. at Dunnellon City Hall to discuss the proposed Rainbow River minimum flows or levels (MFL). The MFL is a regulation to protect springs, spring runs, rivers, lakes, wetlands and aquifers from ground and surface water withdrawals that would cause “significant harm.” The District has set MFLs for 207 water bodies and is currently in the process of setting one for the Rainbow River.

One or more council members may attend this meeting. The Sunshine Law is equally applicable to elected and appointed council members and applies to any gathering of one or more members of the same board.  Council members will not discuss any issues which will foreseeably come before that board for action.
