Members of the City of Dunnellon Tree Board, City Council and city staff visited Dunnellon Elementary School on Friday, April 26 to celebrate National Arbor Day with 3rd grade students.
The Tree Board provided each student with their very own Pine tree sapling to plant. The students then assisted in planting a small Pine tree on the campus. During an assembly several students shared their essays on the theme “Trees Matter They Are Our Future.”
Greg Barton, Marion County Forester, was also on hand to talk to students about taking care of their trees once planted.
“Any day you pick to plant a tree is Arbor Day,” Barton said.
A tree planting ceremony was also held at City Hall where a Live Oak tree was planted on the east side of the building.
