Councilwoman Louise Kenny was first appointed to Dunnellon City Council Seat 5 on February 26, 2007.
She then ran for City Council Seat 5 in the November 2007 City Council Election and was elected to a two-year term.
Councilwoman Kenny and her husband John have lived in Dunnellon for more than thirty years. She has a degree in English and Education from Christian Brothers College in Memphis, Tennessee. She began her career teaching high school English in Memphis.
Councilwoman Kenny enjoyed working as a real estate agent for the Village of Rainbow Springs prior to her civic work for the City of Dunnellon. She served as secretary to Dunnellon Main Street, secretary to the Blue Cove Homeowner Association and secretary to Rainbow River Conservation, LLC. She has been involved in Dunnellon government for many years serving on both the City Council and as Vice Chair of the Planning Commission.
Councilwoman Kenny is an advocate for the protection of the Rainbow and Withlacoochee Rivers and received recognition from the Florida Trust for Public Land for her contribution to the acquisition and development of Blue Run of Dunnellon Park. Councilwoman Kenny supports planned growth and proactive code enforcement.
Outside of John and Louise’s four boys, they have a passion for the City of Dunnellon and they both believe serving the public is the goal of government.
