WALLACE “WALLY” DUNN II

Councilman Wally Dunn ran for and was elected to Seat 4 on the Dunnellon City Council in 2022.  He currently serves as Vice-Mayor.

Wally was raised in Marion County Florida where his family owned property in both Ocala and Dunnellon. Wally graduated from Ocala High School in 1970. He then attended Central Florida Community College in Ocala and graduated with an AA degree in 1972.  Wally went on to attend Florida State University in Tallahassee and graduated with a BSBA degree in 1974.

After graduating from FSU, Wally married his high school sweetheart Kathy and they moved to Greenville, SC where Wally began his career as a Certified Public Accountant.  Later they moved back to Ocala and then to Birmingham, AL in 1980. Wally continued practicing tax accounting at three different CPA firms in Birmingham where he became their Managing Tax Partner.

In 2017 Wally retired due to health issues and returned to Dunnellon permanently.  He moved to property located on the Rainbow River which he purchased from his mother some years earlier.  This property has been owned by his family since the mid 1960’s.

Even though Wally and Kathy moved out of Florida for many years following their college days, they always returned to Dunnellon at least annually to enjoy the town and the Rainbow River.

Wally and Kathy have three grown children and six grandchildren, all of whom also enjoy the Rainbow River and visit often.

Both Wally and Kathy have been very active in the community and the City for all the years they have lived in Dunnellon.  Wally is also a cancer and lymphoma survivor and supports many cancer and lymphoma charities.
