Description
The Special Magistrate is appointed by the City Council to hold hearing and to impose administrative fines including costs of prosecution and other noncriminal penalties, in order to provide an equitable, expeditious, effective and inexpensive method of enforcing any code, ordinance or regulation in effect within the City where a violation or repeated violation exists. The City employs a Special Magistrate for the enforcement of City Code pursuant to Chapter 2, Administration, Division 2A, 2B, and 2C Code Enforcement. Chapter 38, Law Enforcement, Article II, Divisions 1 and 2, Chapter 65, Intersection Safety, and Chapter 78, Waterways.
